General

On Transifex there is a main project called “Nextcloud”. There is a subproject under it which is also named “Nextcloud”. This project contains many single resources. These resources are parts of the server, the apps, the clients. We use these resources daily when we use Nextcloud.

A new translator often asks what to translate first, what is important. The following list shows the resources prioritized by server, clients, core apps and the rest of the Nextcloud world.

The other subprojects to the website of Nextcloud and also the documentation projects are not an issue here.

I created that list to start working on a cleanup of resources at Transifex and to help languages with low translator power to priorize their work.

Everyone is invited to edit my list (wiki style enabled).
Sorting them by relevance is not easy and affected by personal likings.

Some apps are not part of the Nextcloud project at GitHub. For them I will add a link behind the resource name to find the source more easy and quickly.

We are nearly complete. Now it comes to sorting and cleaning.

@tobiasKaminsky We found already 5 deprecated resources I would like to remove from Transifex. Who do I talk to? Technically, I have the rights to remove them, but of course I want to clarify first if there is anything against it.

Well, I think any kind of “ranking” would result in problems with app developers, so aside from removing deprecated apps (those that don’t have a release for the last three major Nextcloud releases or so) it would be better to not screw around with an important part of the Nextcloud ecosystem.

I am very happy with this list since I like to contribute with the translation. We have more then 5.000 unreviewed translation and so we can try to translate and review from a priority side. Neverless I will help and translate new projects at first.

Hey @alfred, good to have your input. My thoughts have been to ask Nextcloud company about some stats regarding popularity derived from their App Store. Will think about it.

My thoughts followed only the question “what must first be translated and reviewed?”. Regardless of my personal preferences or other subjective opinions.
