Hello Translators and Nextcloud users, next major release of Nextcloud named "Hub 26 Summer" (v35) coming soon

Hi everyone,

the Nextcloud development team is in the process of preparing the upcoming major release v35.

We just wanted to let you know that we are closing in on the version 35 release of Nextcloud and if you have some spare time, we would appreciate your help to get more translations :100:% complete.
Several resources belong to the project. Here is a list:

See first section “Priority 1: Server (Shipped with server bundle)”.

Official release date is 15th september 2026 and the schedule can be found here:

String freeze is already active and after that, no more source strings will be changed, and your work will become all the more important from that point on.

Please help us to provide complete translations in as many languages as possible. :globe_with_meridians:
Many languages are already fully translated. Here it would be very good to review the translated strings.

Thank you in advance for any help to make Nextcloud 35 available to many users in many languages.

Best regards,
The Nextcloud Team

Hi,

I took your call for help with the upcoming Nextcloud 35 release quite seriously.

I decided to make the Slovak translation one of my priorities and put together all of my technical knowledge and experience to make the translation process as efficient as possible.

I do not want to go into the technical details of how I achieved this, but one important part of the process is quality control: the translations are independently checked twice for linguistic and semantic correctness before I consider them finished.

The result of today’s work is the following:

Priority 1

Today I completed 863 verified expressions across the P1 resources that still required Slovak translation, including Core, Activity, Circles, Nextcloud Lib, Photos, Server Info, Settings, Weather Status, Files and other server resources.

Current Slovak P1 status: 100% translated — 0 missing expressions.

Priority 2

I also worked through the remaining Priority 2 resources, including Calendar, Contacts, Deck, Spreed/Talk, Notes, Tasks, News, Richdocuments, Bookmarks, Android, Android Common, Android Library, the desktop Client, File Provider resources, iOS and Talk iOS resources.

The verified P2 contribution completed today is approximately 1,252–1,270 expressions.

Total verified translation output today: approximately 2,115–2,133 expressions.

P2 is now also extremely close to 100%. There are only 8 expressions remaining, and those are not currently translatable because the corresponding Transifex resource is locked.

Remaining locked strings

The affected Transifex resource is:

o:nextcloud:p:nextcloud:r:swiftnextcloudui

The remaining 8 untranslated source strings are:

  • Login Failed
  • OK
  • Scan QR Code
  • Server Address
  • The address of your Nextcloud web interface...
  • The entered server address is invalid.
  • Accounts from other Apps
  • Accounts

All 8 belong to swiftnextcloudui, all 8 are locked, and Transifex currently has accept_translations = false for this resource.

I investigated this because I initially assumed there might be a problem on my side, but Transifex returns:

HTTP 409 — Resource translation cannot be modified, because the related source string is locked

The resource currently has:

  • accept_translations = false
  • 8 source strings in total
  • all 8 source strings tagged as locked
  • all 8 still missing in Slovak

I also traced the resource to the active upstream component:

nextcloud/NextcloudKit
Sources/NextcloudKitUI/Localizable.xcstrings

so it does not appear to be simply an obsolete resource.

Could you please check whether swiftnextcloudui is intentionally locked?

If it should still be translated through Transifex, could you enable translations/unlock it? If these strings have moved elsewhere, please let me know which resource should be used instead.

If it is intentionally non-translatable, it would also be useful to know whether it should be excluded from the P2 completeness calculation.

At the moment, these 8 locked expressions are the only thing preventing Slovak P1 + P2 from reaching a clean 100% translated state.

Slovak translation campaign – final summary

Hi,

I wanted to share the final result of the Slovak translation work I have been doing for Nextcloud over the last few days.

The campaign ran from 2 September 2026 at 22:54 CEST to 7 September 2026 at 23:43 CEST.

During this period I contributed 10,360 translated expressions across 44 production batches.

This number does not include several hundred additional expressions that I had already translated manually through the Transifex web interface before starting this campaign.

A fresh final scan of all 298 Nextcloud translation resources found:

  • 0 actionable untranslated expressions
  • 0 scan errors

The current Transifex status now shows:

  • 45,920 source strings
  • 0 untranslated
  • 100% translated

For scale, the 10,360 expressions completed during this campaign alone correspond to roughly 22.6% of the current total source-string count.

This is only an approximate comparison, because my contribution is counted in expressions, while Transifex shows the overall project size in source strings. Plural strings can contain multiple expressions.

The final state was verified directly against Transifex.

Metric Result
Confirmed contribution 10,360 expressions
Earlier manual work several hundred additional expressions
Production batches 44
Current source strings 45,920
Untranslated 0
Translation coverage 100%
Campaign duration ~5 days
