Hi community, the next release of Nextcloud 32 (Hub 25 Autumn) is is released!

it’s time to bundle frequent issues into a WIKI post (where everybody is welcome to add content) to help users to find solutions for frequent issues after update to NC32. This helps to avoid flooding forum with similar topics and helps everybody to identify and solve known issues.

supported PHP versions

  • PHP 8.1 end-of-life by PHP project, deprecated but still supported by Nextcloud. php81
    • PHP 8.1 stops receiving security updates on 2025-12-31T00:00:00Z php81
  • PHP 8.2 will receive security patches until 2026-12-31T00:00:00Z php82
  • PHP 8.4 is now supported, but 8.3 is recommended. php84

Web server configuration

Setup checks do not check for the X-XSS-Protection response header anymore. It has been removed from Nextcloud’s .htaccess and you may want to adjust your webserver config to not serve it anymore. XSS filtering was supported only until Chromium 78 and similarly old browsers, but had been found to cause more issues, including attack vectors, than it solved. Nowadays, aside of not serving the header at all, the only generally recommended value is 0. More context can be found in the OWASP Cheat Sheet Series.
