If it is necessary to prepend a scheme to the Web Site field in the userās Profile here on Nextcloud Discourse, then use https:// rather than http://.
Well, obviously, if the website you specify in that fireld is served over HTTPS, you should use https://, and if not, then you probably shouldnāt, right? ![]()
A fair question, but not applicable to my suggestion since it concerns only a URL without a scheme (i.e. not a URL).
When one is entered in the field, a scheme is automatically prepended. This automatically prepended scheme is http://. It has been many years since HTTP was a safe or sensible choice, so explicitly adding a scheme for it is a poor choice.

This is posted in the Meta category - āDiscussion about help.nextcloud.com itself, ā¦ā, so itās Discourse and Iām not running it.
While I am glad that this small confusion lead to your discovery of a bug in Nextcloud, this isnāt a Solution - or relevant - to the matter which I reported here.
Iām a bit surprised that someone other than I can mark something as a solution in my post.
Weāre used to posts from new forum users having extremely sparse descriptions. I originally didnāt want to allow this post to go through, but then another moderator approved it. While itās true that the meta category refers to the forum itself, your description was really very, if not far too sparse. Two additional sentences could have provided more clarity. ![]()
Thats how it works. Anybody can mark or unmark a post as solved.

Well then, Iāguess Iām sorry for that. But it probably wouldnāt have hurt to mention that explicitly in your post. ![]()
About the behavour in Discourse. I tested this in two other Discourse forums, and it behaves the same, so Iād say thatās not something the maintainers or mods of the Nextcloud forum can change, and should probably be discussed here: Feature - Discourse Meta
Everyone can, afaik.
Point taken and original post updated to explicitly identify the platform.
While I now see ā Solution under each reply in this post and was able to unmark the Solution, I see no such option in any other post, including one to which I contributed.
In any case, I appreciate the advice and will look out for this feature.
Agreed. Thank you for testing.
Sorry, like @bb77 I was misreading the initial post, and with the mixed in information about the invalid fields, the bug reports on github normally solve the issue here on the forum.
I have split this topic, and the other issue is now in a different topic.
