Summary of the issue you are facing:

The file size of the document uploaded from the camera is way too large.

Hello my dears,

I noticed today that when I scan documents from the camera using the Nextcloud app, the file size is very large. A PDF with just one page used to be about 300 kilobytes. Now, one page is more than 4 megabytes !!!

Is there a solution for this?
I would really appreciate any help.
I can’t find a setting to compress the file size. I suspect this only started happening after a Nextcloud update.
There are no errors in the system.

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. open Nextcloud App (Android)

  2. upload a ducument from camera

  3. save as PDF

###

What happened between the uploads - any software-updates - to which version?

Hello… I can’t say exactly when the problem started. I only noticed it for the first time yesterday when I created a 7-page PDF that was over 35 megabytes in size.

My system is up to date. Nextcloud Hub 25 Autumn (32.0.5).

Nextcloud App version 3.35.2...

there was an update on January 26, 2026.

Please find that thread 2 years ago:

The issue still is open at Github. I recommend to “bump” it there to show, that more users want to get a solution.

Oh, thank you so much.

But I'm 100% sure that I've been scanning with my phone for two years now, and the problem has only recently started occurring.
