Why is Android client using so much battery

Nothing selected with auto-upload.
No synced folder or file on the device.
The real sync is handled by DAVx5.

Nextcloud is basically just sitting there providing authentication to my DAVx5, “Nextcloud Deck” and “phonetrack” app.

Still, it drains 25% of battery per charge.
Could someone with knowledge point out if providing authentication to other apps qualifies a battery draining candidate?

Samsung Note IV
Android 6.0.1
Test with PLayStore and now with F-Droid (same version (3.18.0) … but …)

I found Battery draining on android · Issue #7663 · nextcloud/android · GitHub , but it sounds like a more general issue report than something leading to a specific root cause.
