Updated Unraid Docker from 23.0.12.2 and now 404 Nginx Error

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):

    • 23.0.12.2
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):

    • Unraid 6.12.5
  • Reverse proxy and version _(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)

    • 2.12.3
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):

    • Yes

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Tried updating with the web updater multiple times but would not work. So I updated the Docker from 23.0.12.2 to the latest. Seemed to go well but now I can’t access Nextcloud without a 404 nginx error. All was configured fine before this update for years. Couldn’t get it to go back to 23 so went to 24.0.3 and now 23.0.4 and same issue. Double checked the conf file to and all entries for the reverse proxy seem as they should be. But for the trusted proxy section says Swag…which I don’t use. I use NGINX. But it’s been working for years like I said. Tried adjusting that as well to no avail.

Any help greatly appreciated. Shouldn’t be this difficult to update Nextcloud.

Tried copying a backup of my appdata over and restarting the container. It works but asks to update…then errors…then goes to maintenance mode. If you force it out of maintenance mode it just wants to update again. I think it’s dead.

Now do I start again with a fresh install or simply move on.

Hello @Jeremiah_B,

welcome to the Nextcloud community! :handshake:

really? you are really tough running such ancient application.

but nevertheless

use search and add informations according to support template if still in trouble

Thx for the response but I did all of the above and no dice. At this point I’m just gonna delete the whole thing and fresh install if I decide to stick with NextCloud.

Which Docker image are you actually using? This sounds like maybe LSIO, not the Nextcloud project’s Docker image.

In any case, your deployment is so old it’ll take digging into some ancient memories to remember how things were at that point in time.

From what I recall, there were major changes in how LSIO handles updates:

Heyo! You guessed it. Yup LSIO container. And that is exactly my thoughts too…so old…why bother…got my data out, just start over. However I’m a bit hesitant in that I really only used NextCloud as a dropbox for documents and sharing docs. So many other things packed in all running on a low powered server. Debating if something just lighter over all is the way. Preferably something that does it all in a single container and not a cluster of containers.
