Unable to play and preview .MOV Files - Works on iOS Nextcloud Client Though

Hello,

I believe everything is running largely ok, I have HEIC support working and previewing fine. However, attempting to play *.MOV files or preview them from a desktop browser it fails with the error: Error Loading .mov. On an iOS device with the Nextcloud client it works fine.

Nothing relevant in the log file on why it has failed.

Server: Nextcloud Hub 25.0.0
PHP 8.1.2
**ffmpeg path is correctly set to /usr/local/bin, and is accessible by user www-data

It can only play codecs supported by the browser.

Can you play this video if you just open the file in your browser?

I should have thought of that idea but didn’t. No, I can’t play it locally in the browser either (Windows - Chrome and Edge).

As a test, I used a Mac running Safari and it played and previewed correctly in the browser on my nextcloud setup.

Sounds like its not a nextcloud issue then?

No it’s not. I ran into something similar with some HEVC files that play audio but the video is just black, and it was because the browser didn’t support the video codec.
