Hello NextCloud community.

I managed to setup NextCloud on my home server to use Talk Android mobile app from F-Droid but do not have Google Play services on my Android phone for Push notifications. Instead I would like to use the distributor app Sunup or even better NextPush. I already successfully use NextPush with ElementX mobile app from F-Droid on the same Android phone.

I am successfully logged to my server from Talk mobile app and can text messages with other users but do not receive Push notifications when messages are received.

I was trying to follow this manual to setup UnifiedPush in Talk according to this manual talk-android/docs/unifiedPush.md at master · nextcloud/talk-android · GitHub but I cannot find the place where I can specify either Sunup or NextPush in Talk v24.0.2 app settings.

I have the same issue. My phone runs on GrapheneOS without Google Play services. I have a nextcloud-aio server and I installed UnifiedPush in it. NextPush on the phone seems to connect but Talk can’t see NextPush. I have the same transcript from the app which also has a field

It’s strange that Apps specifically made for Nextcloud can’t work seemlessly.

I am not sure if it is related to the minor software version update on server side from 34.0.2 to 34.0.3 or additional PushNotification related package installed but my NextCloud Talk app does work with NextPush and here are the details:

Hey @indygo, also on GrapheneOS here but running GitHub - nextcloud/notify_push: Update notifications for nextcloud clients · GitHub on my Nextcloud snap Server together with F-Droid Nextcloud Services and it works just fine. No G-(dontbeevilbutis) Play services required.
