Tagging of documents

Is it possible to add metadata / tags to documents. Both manually and autmatically?

Yes, I had seen that article. However it does not seem to answer my question. It explicitly says: “to indirectly assign restricted and invisible tags to files they upload.”

I want to add metadata not only during update, thus not indirectly but directly. - And, from my experience, requirements for metadata evolve and they should not be restricted.

The systems I have in mind offer a set of (predefined) metadata/tags to classify the content of files and allows for extending that set of tags. The tagging can be set or altered at any time, not limited to auto-tagging when uploading or creating.

In the manual ( Dateizugriff mit der Nextcloud Web-Oberfläche — Nextcloud latest Benutzerhandbuch latest documentation ) it says that Tags could be set in the detail-view of a file:
