If I have the same data folder on the server and on the client, is there a simple way to synchronise between both without having the redownload ?
That would be a great time saver.

some of those answer may help
But mainly, as synch clients check files, if present on both client/server; a files sizes check is done. If its the same, no uploads are done.
If diffrenrent, your conf (upload vs doxn ) kicks in.
