Restarting Docker results in "Failed to fork child processes"

I’ve just updatet collabora (after this news post appeard). When I’m restarting the docker and do a docker logs -f on the newly created instance, I’m getting the error messages

Any advice on how to solve this? This worked fine with the previous (2.0) releases of Collabora docker, only after updating to 2.1 this started appearing. Server itself is unchanged.

Upgrading to CODE 2.1 leaves me with a collabora/code instance that restarts about every 30 to 60 seconds. It sort of cannot really start properly and retries continuously.

I reverted back to 2.0

I’ve just updated my docker-engine (17.05.0~ce-0~ubuntu-xenial) but I’m still getting the same issue.

For anyone else having this: be adviced that (at least in my case) the restarts (that “pieter” mentions above) are happeing for me as well and they fill up my hard disk. I have to docker stop ID and (just for the sake of it) docker rm ID

Sorry, I haven’t found any soltion to this so far, I’ve tried to investigate myself (on the source code) but I really don’t know what’s going on there (C++ is not my strongest side…).
I’ve also tried to get some help from people in IRC chats but so far, unfortunately, no one could help.

If I figure anything out, I’ll make sure to share my solution.

Still no luck, just documenting my trials and unsuccessful attempts:

After reading Permission denied - #2 by myshevchuk (Answer to Eneas thread) I thought I might have a conflicting docker / kernel issue as well:

I checked my installed docker (on Ubuntu), it was docker-engine:

apt list --installed | grep docker
docker --version
Docker version 17.05.0-ce, build 89658be)

Then I instaled docker.io instead (see [1] for differences)

apt purge docker-engine; apt install docker.io
docker --version
Docker version 1.12.6, build 78d1802

However, the error remains exactly the same:

So I’m still not able to run collabora/code docker, unfortunately.

Next unsuccessful attempt: I’ve increased the RAM for my virtual machine (which is running collaborad docker container) to 4 GB (was: 1 GB) - still the same error message.

Same problem here.
Is there a possibility to pull image v2.0 of collabora/code instead of the latest? I tried several tags with the pull command with no luck.

I don’t think this is possible, I’ve not seen any “older” tag being available.

I’m asking on IRC as well about this topic, but unfortunately, no solution as of now that I know of.

i got the same problem, it’s not exactly docker-specific, i got it outside of docker as well, version 2.1.1 here if there is anything to try, any certain logs that might help, i can paste them here

Funny, I’ve just run “docker pull” again, it now works again. I’ve not changed anything in my set-up nor the way I run the docker.

For me, this issue seems to be fixed with the newest docker image…

or could you maybe check if there are changes in the scripts in the root folder of the docker image? like use

docker exec -t -i your-docker-container-name /bin/bash

and in there:

i have bad internet at the moment but will try it later on my own

especially the last line in start-libreoffice.sh would be interesting

in mine it is:

I am at a loss here. Even though, this is supposed to be the official way to install Collabora and they’re working together officially, a lot of people seem to have problems with the Docker-Image.

I tried to install this just now on a clients’ NC server, but to no avail.

When I tried to reproduce it on my own installation (where it was working fine until today) I experienced the same thing.
The docker image just seems to FUBARd - especially considering everything was working fine until I updated the docker image on my own server (without changing anything else on my server)…
