I’m using a NextCloud installation ( App Version: v31.0.8, Version: v2.0.24 ) on my TrueNas Scale server ( 25.04.2.1 ).
I’m a fairly novice user and just followed a YouTube Tutorial of Lawrence Systems on how to install NextCloud (according to him it should be pretty easy to run your own server nowadays, or so I thought).
So far, everything’s been smooth sailing. But some day I discovered the following message in the app notes in TrueNas: Nextcloud Deprecations Postgres 13 is deprecated and will be removed in the near future. Please upgrade.
So I went to search the web on how in the world I should pull this off. The best I’ve found so far is this Post in the TrueNas Forum.
The conclusion there seems to be that you cannot upgrade postgresql yourself. But if that was the case, why should the NextCloud app inform me about that and not just upgrade it?
I’m not afraid of using the terminal. But I don’t have any reference where to start:
Is it even possible to upgrade postgres myself or should NextCloud upgrade this?
Which of the countless shells in TrueNas Scale should I use?
Which commands do I need? (as said, I don’t even know the basic docker commands. I just follow tutorials on YouTube and try to research the small rest myself)
Thanks very much for your help
NextCloud is a cool project
You started your post in the support category. Unfortunately you ignored the template and a lot of information to help you is missing. Please edit your original post and add all required details like Nextcloud version, webserver type and version, os version, related log file content. Use the support template. Without additional information the community members cannot help you.
In theory, yes. But since TrueNAS is an appliance where you’re generally not supposed to mess around too much with the backend, and since Nextcloud on TrueNAS is maintained by iXsystems (with PostgreSQL being part of that managed stack), you should probably wait until they push an upgrade. That’s just my guess, though, and their forums or GitHub would be better places to ask technical questions or report issues about TrueNAS and its apps.
Thanks for your reply. Since this issue doesn’t really fall under the premise of the Nextcloud Community, I’m going to try to find another solution to my problem.
It’s just so confusing where to turn to if you basically have three different sources (TrueNas, Nextcloud and ixSystems)
