Nextcloud Displays White Screen on Desktop After Upgrade

Hi everyone,

Since upgrading to Nextcloud 21, my installation works perfectly with API clients, but I’m having issues when trying to log in via a web browser. Instead of the usual interface, I get a Whitescreen with an invisible top menu, and no matter which option I select, the main section in the bottom right remains completely white.

I have cleared my browser cache and tried accessing it from different browsers, but the screen problem persists.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any suggestions on how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated!

hi @sophi-josephine welcome to the forum :handshake:

you are missing the required support template. Please fill this form out and edit into your post. This will give us the technical info and logs needed to help you in case the machine in question in spitting out errors! Since you’ve provided zero technical details it is impossible to help you as-is. Thanks.

Did you really upgrade to nc21 which is out of support since years already? Upgrading to a supported version at least nc28 is highrly recommended.

I’d suggest checking your browser inspector. Checking the Network tab and the Console tab while reproducing the problem.

Beyond that, what @wwe said.

I have the same error.
I’m on a “shared server” on OVH…

I try install from scratch the different version : v27, v28, v29 and v30
at each time the same problem : white background, no scrolling on many pages…

I get many other errors : maybe it could from one of this :

url : Login – Nextcloud

I did’nt try on http… (without s)

(It’s in french)

other problem : I can’t select text !

It seems like a frontend issue. Try these steps:

  1. Check logs: Look for errors in nextcloud.log.
  2. Clear Cache: Clear the browser cache and disable extensions.
  3. Repair Nextcloud: Run php occ maintenance:repair in maintenance mode.
  4. Check Permissions: Ensure file/folder permissions are correct.
  5. Console Errors: Use browser dev tools (F12) to check for JavaScript errors.

If the issue persists, consider rolling back to the previous Nextcloud version to check if it’s related to the upgrade.

Hy,
Did you success ? I’ve got the same problem by ovh shared server

As I said you in another post (in french) : I erased all. I reinstall from scratch the version 24.0.12 and now it works…
But this version is out of date.
And my cloude is very very slow…

Shared hosting OVH : bof bof ?
(advantage : It’s cheap.)
Good Luck
