This morning I allowed Nextcloud Desktop Client 33.0.0 (Mac OS 26.3.1 (a) on an M2 MacBook) to install itself. Since then the client is not working. It shows this message “Some files couldn’t be synced! see below for errors”. There are no errors showing below. The taskbar icon is `X’. Restarting (first the computer, then the app itself) doesn’t change anything.
I found a red alarm message in the settings for the client that said the synchronization folder needed to be reauthorized (or something: I didn’t write it down), please click on the message. I did that, it brought up the folder in Finder, I said yes, open that, and it proceeded to synchronize.
It does work for Mac OS 26.3.1, but it does not work for Mac OS 13.7.8 (Ventura). The Nextcloud application is not responding at all. I tried to reboot, reinstall, the combination of the two, but nothing works.
And I could not find how to come back to previous version.
Maybe try here?
Exactly what I need to come back to 4.0.8
Thank you so much!
@Alyosha Please see my answer here: Access on local file from the nexcloud apps - #2 by iva.horn
@Christophe_Giraud You are having a different problem: 33.0.0 Terminates on Launch on macOS 13 Ventura · Issue #9694 · nextcloud/desktop · GitHub
Thanks. I see that the issue is that the folder being synchronized needs to be re-authorized. Perhaps the client can notify the user that this is so.
Yes, we are aware of the insufficient communication and will release an improvement in the user experience and reauthorization process with the next maintenance release. ![]()
@iva.horn Indeed, I have the problem you are pointed to. Thank you very much for your support. I have fixed the issue by removing the 33.0.0 version, reinstalling the 4.0.8 version and resynchronizing everything from scratch.
And thank you again @Alyosha for providing the link, I did not manage to find it by myself on the Nextcloud website. It was very helpful.
Good day to both of you
I need to go back to 4.0.8 too, but which of the 8 download files do I have to use for MacOS Tahoe 26.3.1 ??
I have used this one https://download.nextcloud.com/desktop/releases/Mac/Installer/Nextcloud-4.0.8.pkg
but I am under Ventura, and I did not try under Tahoe.
