Is the github docker/.examples no longer up to date?

The Basics

    • Apache

  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • not sure
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • Yes
  • When did this problem seem to first start?
    • on trying a new docker compose installation
  • Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
    • docker compose, from a dockerfile
  • Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
    • No

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Are the examples in on the nextcloud docker github site no longer updated or relevant? Found here: https://github.com/nextcloud/docker/tree/master/.examples

More specifically trying to make a custom install per this example (full, apache): https://github.com/nextcloud/docker/tree/master/.examples/dockerfiles/full/apache

I have replaced my home server and trying to get a nextcloud docker image up and rolling but having permission issues (using bind-mounts in docker). I have previously used this example (with some minor tweaks) 5 years ago with success but that no longer seems to be the case…

I will create a secondary post with more details on my current issues, but thought I would check here from folks more in the loop than I to see if the examples are even relevant anymore first? I notice on the github page the Dockerfile was last updated 2 years ago…and the supervisord file 8 years ago…

Figured maybe before I make a long post detailing my permissions issues that I might not be following the most relevant example.

Any and all answers appreciated. Thank you.

welcome to the forum @mantis38 :handshake:

AFAIK there is nothing wrong with examples. the only issue I see there are pretty basic and incomplete. For more complete/detailed examples please review

I have no idea how your permission issues should be related to docker file example but definitely you should provide more details and logs.

Hi @wwe thank you for the warm welcome!

Been a long time reader, first time poster.

Hmm ok sounds like those examples are still relevant which is step 1.

In that case, I will make a separate much more detailed post as to the permissions issues I am seeing. I was following those two links you replied with, which is cool because it means I am/was on the right track.

Thank you! Will close this topic.
