Finally - I have Nextcloud working

,

Is experimental use of virtual files on mac reliable?

Is this the best way to enable it?

Thanks for your help

/ Library / Preferences / Nextcloud

file (nextcloud.cfg file) and add the following line:
showExperimentalOptions = true

Regarding enabling and using it, someone else asked as well:

If it is experimental, this means it should not be considered reliable. Not sure if it is still this stage, but even if it was just new, I’d always a bit careful at the beginning.

i too saw the announcement back in April on GitHub, as well as a link to the download it, but i waited for it to be available on the installation page on nextcloud.com

i have tried to set showExperimentalOptions = true and I could use the feature. however i thought that since the vfs was released , the feature was no longer experimental but part of the client ? does this mean i need to set set showExperimentalOptions = true again ?

I’d love to know how to do this - if it’s stable.

I did look around a bit, there seems to be a specific version to download:

If you go to the 3.13.2 version on assets, you can download the Nextcloud-3.13.2-macOS-vfs.pkg
I don’t know if this file is different from the file over the download links from the Nextcloud homepage.
It seems the VFS feature was planned to become official but there still have been a few issues so it wasn’t rolled out so far.

A bit of background about rolling out the feature, check the details yourself and if it makes sense for you to test the feature:
