I just installed the new Nextcloud 19 and tried out the Collabora Office. To me this is slow as hell, and I’m really not sure why is that so? When I type something the symbols appear like 1-2 second later or so. Can this be optimized somehow? I didn’t find anything…
I run Nextcloud on a Plesk managed root server with Debian 9.
PHP 7.3.18 with PHP FPM
PHP Memory Limit 512 MB
Maria DB 10.1.44
What I did not mention before: It’s a clean new install of Nextcloud and I’m the only user at the moment. Encryption is enabled for secruity reasons.
I upgraded the available PHP memory for my Nextcloud to 1 GB with no change. The server runs a only few websites and has 32 GB RAM and a Intel E3 1246v3 CPU. I’m running Debian 9.12 and Plesk Obsidian 18.0.27
I checked the webserver logs and the Nextcloud Logs but cannot find any errors…
for me it works pretty good, maybe u shouldnt use the built in code server because it could be older version, u can try installing collabora through docker
For me it is the same and it is related to the built-in CODE server. You can just validate it by enabling in the configuration a demo-server - with that, the performance is much better.
I was using the docker version of CODE in the past and now tried the built-in CODE server after upgrading NC to 19.0.1.
But after trying it a bit I was quite disappointed with the performance compared to the docker based solution. Opening a Writer document took about twice as long (>10s) with the built-in CODE server than with the CODE server running as docker image.
Finally I reverted back to docker (although it’s bit more complex to set-up and update).
I experienced this problem too.
I was using NC and CODE both in docker but separated containers in the same compose. When I tried to use the integrated CODE in NC 19 I experienced a great loss of performance and I returned to the other method. I would like to use the integrated not to have incompatibility problems in versions. Let me know if someone found a solution.
Thank you
I had the same issue with the CODE server app, and after switching to the container solution (plus some proxy rules in nginx), it now works. I only have to find out why I cannot save documents…
On newest versions still hanging all the time while saving: Writing, Cursor stops, document got saved, luckely the written text inbetween got not lost ;-).
I am too the only one person working on this server…
I have the same issue. Do you have found a solution?
I use a VPS M from contabo, runnig wiht nginx and local installed loolwsd (no Docker).
On the same VPS runnig two NC-Instances.
