Can not add Hotmail accounts

Hello there, mail-app Xpertz!

I’ m reaching out for your help, because I’m facing issues with integrating my two Hotmail accounts in nc mail-app.

I’ve been following these instructions, registered for Azure, registered a new “app” (aka nc-mail-app) for my domain with Client ID and Passcode placed in the Nextcloud Groupware mailing section.

The setup fails in the last step where you grant permissions for the app, with the message “The setup of your account has failed.”

( I guess, when I’ve come to the point of granting permissions, the password ist correct. Regardless if auto or manual.)

The logs show:
**ServiceExceptionCould not decrypt account access token: Missing access token for xoauth2 account

Could not load account mailboxes: Could not decrypt account access token: Missing access token for xoauth2 account**

Every try leaves an abandonded account in the menu of the app.

I have activated 2FA for my cloud access but checked off server-side encryption.
The config.php is set to switch every new default user account to german,

What am I missing? What am I doing wrong?

No, not directly. I’ve only set up the Groupware section.
Although, I cannot find the OAuth2. The “App store” in NC is not searchable.

Follow the instruction as witten and click on the link “hier klicken” above the input field with “common”.

Starting here I cannot help you more, because I never used this feature.

That is exactly, what I already did. After I’ve completed that, I got the error.
Maybe I’m missing something at the OAuth 2.0-Clients section? I don’t know what to fill in there.

How to Add Hotmail Email Account to Nextcloud Mail App

Hello, This should be a simple question, but I seem to be having some difficulty. I added the Nextcloud Mail app to my self hosted setup and simply added my Gmail account. However, adding Hotmail isn’t as simple. I attempted to add a new email account using my Hotmail username and app password, but receive a message - “IMAP username or password is wrong”. I have 2FA on my hotmail account and use an app password for other similar services and verified that IMAP is enabled on my hotmail account.…

Yes, but this does not provide the solution.
Why isn’t there a step-by-step tutorial on how to connect Hotmail accounts in the app?
I can’t be the first one facing these “problems”.

I had the same issue and just fixed it. In the instructions it show adding the Secret ID. Do not copy that; copy the value. It’s only visible the first time you make it so you’ll have to make a new one and add that. also go to app permission in Entra and under microsoft graph add offline_access, openid, email, profile and Office 365 Exchange Online (it’s under “APIs my organization uses” when adding permissions) IMAP.AccessAsApp, and SMTP.SendAsApp.

EDIT: I can’t post more than twice since my account is new. But the answer the post below me, Did you use your app password or your normal password. Also i did the automatic sign-in not the manual sign-in.

I have the same issue. I tried using the value, not the secret ID (interestingly the value is only visible once, the secret can be viewed again so it makes sense).

I also added the permissions but no luck, still getting the same error “Could not decrypt access token for xoauth2 account”
