How to Add Hotmail Email Account to Nextcloud Mail App

Hello, This should be a simple question, but I seem to be having some difficulty. I added the Nextcloud Mail app to my self hosted setup and simply added my Gmail account. However, adding Hotmail isn’t as simple. I attempted to add a new email account using my Hotmail username and app password, but receive a message - “IMAP username or password is wrong”. I have 2FA on my hotmail account and use an app password for other similar services and verified that IMAP is enabled on my hotmail account. I also tried the “manual” setup, but have the same result. Is there a known issue with adding Hotmail accounts?

I don’t personally use Hotmail myself, but just a quick question — are you trying to log in to Nextcloud Mail using your regular account password, or are you already using an app-specific password?

If you’re still using the regular login password, you might want to try creating an app password instead (just a suggestion).
This needs to be done in your Microsoft account settings (not in Hotmail directly), at this link:

With 2FA enabled, regular passwords often won’t work in third-party apps like Nextcloud, so an app password might solve the issue.
