Existing apps are not automatically compatible with the new version (34). Many apps are developed by community users working on the apps in their free time.
If you have time and want to help out, you can enable an app by clicking enable manually in the app overview (as an admin) in order to test it. Please leave feedback on the bug tracker of an app if your test was successful (for follow-ups, leave a ) or leave a report with the errors you encountered.
Here is an auto-generated list of apps that were compatible with previous versions of Nextcloud. This list is continuously updated:
yeah, that’s the problem with relying on apps, sooner or later they get abandoned. Essential features, like fulltext search should be part of the core in my opinion
There are plenty of apps that are continuously supported and that are not part of core. As user, you can just join the community, check out what lacks for the app and give it a hand if you can.
It is not really clear, they fixed a few things that blocked the usage for NC34:
but after that they didn’t create a new release. Perhaps it needs some testing first. Checkout and follow the discussion on github.
This sentence suggests to me that there is a misunderstanding here.
All apps in the server bundle are available for Nextcloud 34.
The many other third-party apps are the responsibility of the app developer.
If an app is not yet available for the new Nextcloud version, it helps to create an issue in the repository regarding compatibility.
Hopefully, the app author will find the time and be willing to make the necessary adjustments.
btw. “important apps” … every user will have it’s own definition of important.
Same here with definition of “essential features”.
Also true, but a “file storage” software like Nextcloud without fulltext search makes no sense today. In my opinion, that is more of a must than an option.
There where open issues and closed “without” feedback:
There are maybe reasons why the update is not yet available, but there is no communication in the ticket and the app listen: Co-Betreuer nextcloud_release_service
Unfortunately, we don’t have more insight what/why this is blocking. If they pushed all relevant changes, you could install the code directly from github and use the app until they do a final release.
On the long term, it is better if there is a community around the app, that there are ideally several developers that can release a new version, if they can rely on people help testing, …
