Access not granted on IOS app

Just downloaded & installed the NextCloud app from the IOS appstore on my iPhone.

I want to get access to my cloud store which i have in use for years already; use02.thegood.cloud but the app is returning a page stating “access forbidden” “status token does not exist”

And it is thus not giving me access.
On the same iPhone just using the browser i am able to login.

Is this an issue with the app? I tried searching for the version number, but i don’t know how to find it. As said, downloaded it today from the official Apple store (date 21 may 2025).

Please let me know what’s wrong and how I can arrange the access in the NextCloud app.

The desktop client and via android it is working? When using the client, they use the login flow, meaning, they use your user’s credentials, login and then create a dedicated app password. And this login-flow might be broken at some point, and might be a reason you still can normally login via browser.

This way, you can just check if there is some specific problem with the ios-client, and nothing server-side. For many of the problems, you probably need to reach out to the customer support of your provider. If they have a customer forum, if there are many other users with the same problem, you know it is not you…

This is a known and tricky issue were are actively investigating on. At the moment, it does not appear to be an iOS app problem, though. It only surfaces there most of the time. For still unclear reasons it appears like the server has a problem in the specific situation of iOS clients attempting to log in. The web view in the iOS app login is simple and only follows the instruction of the server.

There are other forum threads about this already and we also have a GitHub issue which tracks this problem.

As a workaround, you may create an app password in the web user interface and scan the QR code with your app which circumvents the web-based client login and should work immediately without issues.
