Is anyone working on an option to use Xapian instead of Elastic Search? It would be lovely if it were pluggable at the plugin preferences level. I’d be happy to work on it.
I run Xapian instead of EA on a Redmine install and it does what’s expected without much fuss.
My preference comes from finding Java-based solutions very fussy to admin, admittedly based on self-hosted ODK-Collect, which basically breaks at every update, no matter how minor.
I can certainly believe this is less of a problem with elastic search, but my preference is still to minimize the execution environments needed on a production server where possible and Xapian achieves that goal for me.
I’m not really up to the task of leading such a project, but happy to contribute.
