Windows desktop client does not update automatically

I am currently on the Windows desktop client v4.0.6 and for several versions now it doesn’t update automatically nor show the current update when triggering update manually. I updated by downloading from the download website and installing manually.

Can anyone confirm this or knows how to fix it?

Open the settings page of your dekstop client and check, whether automatic update is marked.

Yes, it is. And next to it is the button to manually check for updates which always says that there is no update available while it is available on the download page.

How many days did you wait until manual download and installation?

I don’t know, how Nextcloud is handling new releases. Some vendors offer automatic updates a few days or weeks after release of it to get feedback from early adaptors before offering the new release for automatic updates.

Yes, e.g. Notepad++ does so.

I don’t know how long the update was available. I will see next week at some other computers whether they update the client some time later.

Today the automatic update happened. Looks like it takes up to a week until it is provided.

Edit: I just saw that the the new version in Github was released an hour ago. So the automatic update happened together with the new version and I don’t know why it did not for several past updates.
