Whiteboard (Nextcloud AIO 31.0.6) – No access to Library / Cannot import Excalidraw sets
Environment:
Component | Version |
---|---|
Nextcloud AIO | 31.0.6 (latest as of 07/2025) |
Server OS | CachyOS (Arch-based Linux) |
Whiteboard App | 1.1.2 (from official App Store) |
Browsers | Brave & Firefox (on CachyOS) |
Client OS | CachyOS (Arch-based Linux) |
Problem description:
I’m currently testing the latest Nextcloud Whiteboard 1.1.2 running in Nextcloud AIO 31.0.6, and I’ve encountered the following issue:
-
There is no visible option to open the “Library” (Element Library) – no button, no UI element, and keyboard shortcuts like
L
orCtrl + Shift + L
don’t open anything. -
In previous versions (e.g. NC 30), it was possible to:
- open the library via an icon,
- or import Excalidraw sets via URL (e.g. from libraries.excalidraw.com).
-
Now, in 1.1.2:
- I don’t see any library icon at all – even after I added elements to the library using “Add to Library” in one
.whiteboard
file, - I have no way to access or open the library in a new whiteboard document.
- I don’t see any library icon at all – even after I added elements to the library using “Add to Library” in one
Questions:
-
Is the Element Library feature still available in Whiteboard 1.1.2?
Or was it removed/disabled in recent versions? -
Was importing Excalidraw libraries via URL intentionally removed or temporarily hidden?
(I remember it working in earlier releases.) -
Can
.excalidrawlib
files still be imported by dragging them onto the canvas?
Is there a specific workflow or limitation to be aware of? -
If the library relies on browser-local storage (e.g. IndexedDB),
is it normal that it’s not visible in new whiteboard files, even if I added elements in a previous one?
Any clarification would be appreciated – and I’ll summarize the working solution once it’s confirmed.
