What are the differences between Online Accounts and Desktop Clients?

Hi,
I am using Ubuntu and have just installed the Desktop Client. So far I had my Nextcloud account synchronised through Online Accounts and I wonder if it’s now redundant, as the Desktop client seems to be a more complete version of it. Thanks!

Gnome Online Accounts doesn’t actually synchronize the files, it just adds a WebDAV mount to the file manager. But yes, if you are synchronizing all your files via Desktop Client it’s redunant. I for my self turned “Files” off in Gnome Online Accounts and use it only for Contacts and Calendar.

Very clear answer. Thank you!
