Steps to replicate it:

  1. Connect to WebDav folder on file explorer.
  2. Restart Computer.
  3. Try to reconnect get Windows error code 0x80070035.
  4. Reconnect WebDav folder to get access again.

Interesting, thought it was a Windows ‘feature’ that webdav connection didn’t survive restart due to authentication failure. Always have to manually re-establish webdav connection and provide credentials. Hope someone has found a solution for this. I’m sure OP and me are not the only ones.

In my case the problem it’s not only related to provide the credentials again, has I would normally do by setting up the Webdav from file explorer, in my case is that every time I restart the machine I need to reconfigure the whole Webdav connection again, so it’s even worst, I have no idea on how to fix this, I’ve used Opendrive has a Webdav service before and I did not got these issues but with my own Nextcloud deployment I do.

We are facing the same problem and symptoms. Also need to reconfigure webdav since Nextcloud 13 at least. Interesting to hear that opendrive does work. Perhaps there is a Nextcloud specific issue here?

I’m not sure if it’s related to Windows or Nextcloud, In some computers with Windows 10 I can just restart and provide credentials, but in some other Windows 10 machines or Windows 7 machines I need to re-establish Webdav connection and provide credentials, Is very annoying, I’m not sure what is causing the issue

I do https://domain.com/remote.php/webdav/ on file explorer in Windows,
I tried https://nabu.dream.org.il/remote.php/dav/files/user/ but it doesn’t connect at all, I just get.

The results are all different from computer to computer, in some Windows 10 machines it connects and the network shortcut stands there so I can reconnect again later after reboot,
On some other Windows 10 machines I can’t connect, sometimes I can connect but then after reboot I can’t, and the same result happens with Windows 7, the domain has a correct SSL certificate from Let’s Encrypt, I also double checked Webclient is running in services, that basic auth is enabled, I also tried using Cloudfare DNS just to check if it was a DNS problem but it is the same. I haven’t tried connecting from a Linux machine, but, I do need to get connection established from Windows to get a few workstations connected to the cloud server.

That worked perfectly, just that in some machines I needed to set the “WebClient” service has automatic. I did not saw this address listed in the WebDav documentation for Nextcloud 16, ¿where did you got this address to connect thought WebDav?, I normaly see that after reboot windows always set some address with \server@SSL\DavWWWRoot\ always, but did not know why. Thank you very much!.

It amazes me that it worked. It doesn’t work for me even with webclient on automatic. With Jimmy’s link I can’t even create a valid mapping.
I’m just creating a mapping with: https://your.websitet/remote.php/webdav/ via mapping a network folder. However this fails on reboot consistently.

I’m not a power user of this functionality, but just a bit annoyed restarts just disables the Nextcloud drive. Hope some Windows or Nextcloud update in the future will fix this for me.

well not every issue is the same even if it seems similar.
in your case i’d suggest to use raidrive.com - works brilliantly for me and is freeware.

Did anyone succeed in getting a windows native webdav connection persist over reboot? I failed with any such configurations.

However Raidrive seems to work fine at least, but I’d prefer to not rely on third party software … if feasible.
