Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can. :heart:

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
    • 32.0.3
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
    • Ubuntu 32.0.3
  • Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25):
    • Caddy 2.6.2
  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • PHP 8.2.30
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • Yes

Summary of the issue you are facing:

I cannot connect via WebDAV

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Install via this Tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpr37FJSgrw

  2. I used Caddy instead of Apache.

Log entries

Nextcloud

Please provide the log entries from your Nextcloud log that are generated during the time of problem (via the Copy raw option from Administration settings->Logging screen or from your nextcloud.log located in your data directory). Feel free to use a pastebin/gist service if necessary.

WebDAV endpoint

Your web server is not yet properly set up to allow file synchronization, because the WebDAV interface seems to be broken. To allow this check to run you have to make sure that your Web server can connect to itself. Therefore it must be able to resolve and connect to at least one of its `trusted_domains` or the `overwrite.cli.url`. This failure may be the result of a server-side DNS mismatch or outbound firewall rule.

Configuration

Nextcloud

The output of occ config:list system or similar is best, but, if not possible, the contents of your config.php file from /path/to/nextcloud is fine (make sure to remove any identifiable information!):

<?php
$CONFIG = array (
  'instanceid' => '************',
  'passwordsalt' => '*************',
  'secret' => '**************',
  'trusted_domains' =>
  array (
    0 => 'cloud.theredno.de',
  ),
  'datadirectory' => '/var/nextcloud-data',
  'dbtype' => 'mysql',
  'version' => '32.0.3.2',
  'dbname' => 'nextcloud',
  'dbhost' => 'localhost',
  'dbtableprefix' => 'oc_',
  'mysql.utf8mb4' => true,
  'dbuser' => 'nextcloud',
  'dbpassword' => '***********',
  'installed' => true,
  'memcache.local' => '\OC\Memcache\APCu',
  'opcache.enable' => true,
  'opcache.interned_strings_buffer' => 16,
  'opcache.max_accelerated_files' => 10000,
  'opcache.memory_consumption' => 128,
  'default_phone_region' => 'DE',
  'trusted_domains' => [
	'cloud.theredno.de',
	'127.0.0.1',
	'::1'
],
  'overwrite.cli.url' => 'https://cloud.theredno.de',
  'trusted_proxies' => ['127.0.0.1', '::1'],
  'forwarded_for_headers' => ['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR'],
);

Are you actually unable to transfer files are is just the setup check failing?

P.S. Those opcache parameters do not belong in your Nextcloud config. They’re for PHP’s config.

Hi @Noah3

Are you only experiencing an error message, or are you truly unable to connect via WebDAV?

In most cases, the error message is related to a poorly configured DNS. The server needs to be configured to recognize the ip of its own domain and connect to it.

You should watch the video again carefully, because these values do NOT belong in config/config.php
He explains this correctly, but he assumes Apache2 is being used as the server with the PHP module acting as the SAPI interface to PHP. Instead, you’ll probably be using php-fpm for your Caddy system, in which case these values belong in /etc/php/8.3/fpm/php.ini

h.t.h.
