Web Files App: Small message dialogs - Can timing be adjusted or location moved?

Nextcloud 30.0.8

Web Files App

When I add a folder or upload files, nextcloud displays a small message dialog informing me of success. I.E. “folder created + folder name”, “files uploaded”. They disappear in about 5 seconds or I can click the X to close.

These messages hang around for a bit to long for my liking. The issue is that the “+ New” button is not static. It moves right as the bread crumb trail grows. So it’s never in the same spot. When dealing with nested folders and long filename ( the new folder message includes the folder name and expands vertically ), the popup message often obscures the “+ New” button. As it sits there obscuring the “+ New” button for an estimated 5 seconds which seems like an eternity when waiting for it to go away, I have to click the X to close it because it’s obscuring the button I need to click to add the folder info. In my workflow where I add a folder, then add folder info that’s a lot of extra unnecessary clicks just to close a message dialog which quickly becomes burdensome.

A few suggestions:

  1. Make the duration configurable in seconds or milliseconds?
  2. Have the dialog be a max width and for long file names have it expand vertically rather than horizontally minimizing it’s ability to block the “+ New” blue button.
  3. Keep it as is, but move the “+ New” button to the left side before the breadcrumb trail rather than have it keep moving to the right as the bread crumb trail grows as it does now. I personally think the “+ New” button should be static in the same spot irregardless of the size of the bread crumb trail. I think it’s cleaner design.
  4. Move the dialog popup to the lower right corner. This is my top pick as it’s visually easy to see, it can expand horizontally and it will never interfere with the “+ New” button up top or the bread crumb trail. Easy, neat and clean. This option has the least interference while still providing the identical functionality.

Thanks so much!

Ok wow crazy
Why you don’t use occ if you have so much folders to create.

Maybe you can combine this with the app metadata so you can all done in commandline
