We need your help on Windows

Hello,

We have to change the certificate that is used to sign the Windows MSI installer packages.

Due to SmartScreen way of working, we need help to build reputation for our new certificate.

Can you help by installing the new 34.0.4 installer signed with the new certificate (identical to the real one) ?
See Nextcloud-34.0.4-x64.msi - Nextcloud

The steps are these

  1. Try to run the new installer package
  2. Gets an annoying SmartScreen popup saying that this is not secure and could not be verified as legitimate
  3. Click on “More info”
  4. Still run it as it is signed by us (and you can verify it)

This is because we need to build reputation for our new certificate and you can really make a difference and help us.

Thanks in advance

Done, but at least in my Windows11-Testsetup (do not use Windows as productive system) there was no annoying SmartScreen popup. It is 25H2 with all Updates done before.

The NC-Client Install runs as others before also.

Changing a certificate should not be that rare, and they don’t provide other techniques, e.g. to sign with two certificates etc.?

Done. I’ve got the Warning-Screen…

No you cannot do that.
That was my plan to ease the transition but it is not possible for MSI packages.

alternatively, downloading from this URL may help not getting the SmartScreen block

Did it on my virtual Windows 11 machine, but I did not get the “SmartScreen” popup. You must have resolved the issue by now.
