Viewing video with the nextcloud internal player .. how do I turn on soft-subtitles?

The Basics

  • every video played with internal player, that has soft subtitles
• Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
  • AIO - docker via cosmos
• Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Video plays “just as is” - no subtitles - and I want to enable said subtitiles (language barrier ^^)

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

1. upload video-file with softsubs (mkv)
2. navigate to the uploaded video-file
3. double click to start playback …

While trying different uploaded videos I found that “hard subtitles” work … but soft subtitles unfortunately not … and the internal player offers minimal options (speed and max zoom / 100%)
