Users can not find each other for sharing

Nextcloud version 20.0.12:
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 20.04): Debian 4.9.228-1 (2020-07-05) x86_64
PHP version (eg, 7.4): 7.4.24

The issue you are facing:
Users do not find each other in the sharing search box.

In the list of nextcloud users, I get the following attributes in the first column:
Username: 4D35ABCED-1234-F453-B631-850F881F6517 (incomprehensible string)
Display Name: Erika Musterfrau (real name)

In the sharing search box, users can be found for sharing with the incomprehensible string, but not email or name.

I already tried setting “Internal Username Attribute:” in the expert LDAP settings to uid or sAMAccountname - as described here:
https://help.nextcloud.com/t/ldap-users-show-as-sid-and-not-user-name/
…no avail.

Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Y/N): Y

Steps to replicate it:

  1. Click on sharing icon on folder
  2. Click again on sharing icon in sharing-tab
  3. Type user name, user email or login name or anything really …

In the sharing settings, you have an option to activate autocompletion on display name and mail adress (not just login name).
