The issue you are facing:

Large uploads are not possible anymore. They were in the past → today I wanted to upload a file which exists, then a message pops up that I can upload and replace it or create a second one with other filename. So it was possible.
Now after the file progress bar is finished a message appears: “Unbekannter Fehler” in German which means “Unknown Error”.

Steps to replicate it:

Upload a big file.

The output of your Nextcloud log in Admin > Logging:

The log file is created but no entry! Loglevel 3 should show the error?!

The output of your Apache/nginx/system log in /var/log/____:

No output.

Referring to the official nextcloud documentation: https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/admin_manual/configuration_files/big_file_upload_configuration.html the php variables upload_max_filesize and post_max_size are limiting the size of a uploaded file in webinterface. In our case thats not right. Both variables are only set to 8MB. phpinfo confirms this. Nevertheless we are able to upload files larger 10GB. Is the documentation outdated? Or what else could be the reason that we are able…

How can one dig into the problem?
I don’t want to spent days to debug.

I had not time so far. Is the upload done via Javascript? Every 10 MB the progress bar makes a litte break. Should I see an error message in the browser console? Can one use a non minified version. Who is responsible? Is only paid support available? I think uploading is a core function. So why doesn’t someone answer? Is the forum empty or is it such a special question?

I’ve got the same error but with apache server instead of NGINX. Any solution for this one?

Understanding the file upload procedure

I’m on Nextcloud 18.0.3, where I’m currently trying to understand the following problem: When uploading files (either through the WebUI or the Linux client), the progress bar always gets stuck on 100 % (“Processing files…”) for some time before the upload is completed. Watching the file system for this duration showed me that the file gets actually written twice, the first time to nextcloud-data-folder/user/uploads/web-file-upload-HASH, the second time to nextcloud-data-folder/user/files/filena…

Especially the last link shows that the upload progress seems to be a “secret” of implementation?!

I had a look at the included Javascript files.
I have counted them. I was at 250 files. Then I stopped counting.
This are the minimized files.
What was new to me: Firefox shows this files in the debugger:
vue files.
ts files → I thought typescript files have to be “translated” to javascript?

Can anyone tell me in which file one should look for uploading files?
