Upgrade from Owncloud 10.15 to Nextcloud

As the title said, I have owncloud 10.15 up and running, trying to upgrade to nextcloud, the guide does not have a version table match for 10.15, I go tan exception going to 25.0.13:

Exception: Updates between multiple major versions and downgrades are unsupported.
Update failed

I have absolutely no experience with this, but updating to Nextcloud from Owncloud > 10.13 seems to be unsupported.

Here you can see the version.php of the latest Nextcloud (developer version 31), which can be updated from Owncloud 10.13, but not from 10.14 or 10.15.:

You get this message because your Owncloud version is too high.

I cannot say whether this is really the case, i.e. whether you can change it in the version.php so that it works after all. As I already wrote, I have no experience with this.

Much and good luck,

OK, so I guess the only option would be to make a separate nextcloud install and recreate the users, add the applications, move the files and re-index?

I remember many user successfully upgraded from unsupported versions in the past. work through owncloud and oc_migration_issue topics - likely you’ll find an advice.

A few days back I glanced at the OC release notes for 10.14 and 10.15. There did not appear to be significant, if any, db changes (I think there was one minor one listed).

DB changes are the main concern when it comes to migrating.

Just to note I successfully edited version.ini to allow upgrade from owncloud 10.15 and it worked fine. But my owncloud was tiny with little critical data - so YMMV.
