Upgrade from 14.0.4 to 17.0

Hello here,

In my company we have a nextcloud 14.0.4 installed on a Debian 9 Stretch with nginx / php 7.3

I want to upgrade uour installation from 14.0.4 to 17.0 and I was wondering if I have steps to respect for a correct upgrade.

  • Must I upgrade directly to latest stable ?
  • Are there some steps like 14.0.4 -> 15 -> 16 -> 17 ?

You cannot upgrade through multiple major versions at a time (see https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/15/admin_manual/maintenance/upgrade.html), you need to upgrade from 14.0.4 to the latest 15, 15 to the latest 16 and 16 to the latest 17.

I would also advise you to make a backup of your database and data before beginning the upgrade if you don’t have ones automatically generated.
