The issue you are facing:

Initializing

Current version is 15.0.5.
Update to Nextcloud 15.0.7 available. (channel: “stable”)
Following file will be downloaded automatically:

  • https://download.nextcloud.com/server/releases/nextcloud-15.0.7.zip
    Retry update

  • Check for expected files

The following extra files have been found: * .rnd

After this messages the update will stop.

Steps to replicate it:

  1. Starting the Updater

The output of your Nextcloud log in Admin > Logging:

Other users stumbled across this issue as well before:

Just delete the .rnd (hidden file) in your nextcloud root directory (like: /var/www/nextcloud) and retry the update.

This might be an explanation and possible solution:

The update still works after deleting the .rnd file.
