Other users stumbled across this issue as well before:

Integrity check failed core -> extra file -> .rnd

From the integrity check output I would have expected it at /path/to/nextcloud/core/.rnd . Not sure why the full path is not shown there. Perhaps if it’s in webroot, it is excluded from the check, but not if inside a sub dir. Indeed, just checked, and I have /path/to/nextcloud/.rnd as well, but no integrity check issue. Just delete the .rnd (hidden file) in your nextcloud root directory (like: /var/www/nextcloud) and retry the update.

This might be an explanation and possible solution:

Trying to upgrade 14.03 to 14.04 - I get: The following extra files have been found * .rnd

The file is usually being created in that directory, because you’ve set it as the home directory of the web user who is used to run the web server. If you change the home directory of the web user, which shouldn’t have any effect on Nextcloud, the file will be outside the Nextcloud root and the message won’t pop-up again.
