The issue you are facing:

Steps to replicate it:

  1. Open updater
  2. Start update
  3. Cannot move past “Check for expected files”

The output of your Nextcloud log in Admin > Logging:

Please search forum. This has been discussed many times and the solution is easy.

TLDR: Remove the two extra files which are not part of the Nextcloud package.

Thank you for the prompt response @rakekniven. Much appreciated. After posting / submitting my question I deleted both files and retried the update which was successful. However, both .reuse and LICENSES were created once the update was complete.

My apologies for not coming back here to either edit / update or delete my original post.
