we created a new user and a new group but we can’t share folders, going into sharing and searching from the field for both the group and the user can’t find them.

Solution: nextcloud is key sensitive and if you don’t type in exactly the name of the group or user it doesn’t show them among the selectable

You’re running an end-of-life major release (22) and very outdated with maintenance releases even within the 22 release cycle (22.2.10 was the last maintenance release for 22).
Currently supported are 28, 29, and 30.
At least in current versions of Nextcloud, case sensitivity isn’t a thing (I believe that’s what you’re referring to). Both USER and user match.
