Two-Factor TOTP Provider // One user lost 2FA Code

Hello,

running Nextcloud 30.0.10 hosted with 2FA enabled. Hosted means, I do not have access to the commandline.

Issue: one user lost his 2FA code. How to disable 2FA for only this user without deleting his accout etc?

  1. I would ask your hoster for support…
  2. there is also an two factor admin support app which could help if you can install it

Yes, I know this plugin, but asking the hoster is not an option. Sadly, everything commandline is not an option…

This is kind of a dealbreaker, if the totp plugin does not allow easy admin access, because I bet this happens all the time.

This allows you to execute occ commands on the web:

This worked. You guys are awsome! Thank you!

OCC Web has been very unreliable in recent years. It is possible that it will stop working at some point. It is not a good idea to operate a Nextcloud with possibly important data and high security requirements on a web space. I can only advise against it.

So, that means I was able to rescue this one user, but the next could be doomed. Thats a bummer.
