I have a brother document scanner that supports scan to Sharepoint and I’m able to create an app specific password in my NC admin portal and it scans to a NC webdav folder directly with no problem. My brother scanner’s config page gives me the option to select auth type of NTLMv2, Kerberos and Basic.
I’m trying to do the same configuration with my HP flatbed laser printer now, and it’s not working. It doesn’t give me an option to select auth type, and it’s asking for a windows domain. I’ve tried blank, ‘.’, my nc fqdn - nextcloud.example.com, so far none have worked. I’m wondering if it’s trying to do ntmlv2 or kerberos? or some other auth type? any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this? and if it is an auth type issue, any way to resolve?
Most likely the device doesn’t support the WebDAV protocol and only support the SMB/CIFS protocol. I recommend to check the documentation of your device.
my device asks for a url and gives an example using https, I can also see some of the request using tcpdump. My experience with sharepoint is it uses webdav.
Unfortunately, I also don’t know, but it’s also a very interesting topic for me. Please, let us know if you could connect your printer via webdav.
What i see is that modern printers tend to offer cloud connections to Microsoft, Google and others. Don’t know, If one of these options could be used for a general nextcloud compatible webdav connection.
