I would like to request support for timestamped comments on video files in Nextcloud.
I know this has been requested before, including in the 2023 thread about video collaboration and frame-specific comments, but I wanted to raise the request again as this would be an extremely useful feature for professional video workflows.
We are currently testing Nextcloud as an alternative platform for sharing video edits with clients. It already does almost everything we need: we can upload video files, organize them in folder structures, share them with clients, and clients can leave comments.
The one major feature we are missing is the ability to attach a comment to a specific point in a video.
For example, a client could pause the video at 03:42, write “Can we use a different shot here?”, and the comment would automatically be attached to 03:42. Clicking the comment should ideally jump the video player back to that point.
This is a core feature in video review platforms such as Frame.io and would make Nextcloud much more useful for video production and post-production workflows.
It doesn’t necessarily need integration with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro. Simply having timestamped comments directly in the Nextcloud video player would already make a huge difference.
Since Nextcloud already has video playback, file sharing and commenting, this feels like a very natural extension of the existing functionality.
Is this something that is currently being considered or planned for Nextcloud?

Especially, if you want to report an issue (like a found bug) for the corresponding developers to address, this is unfortunately not the right location: most devs will not likely stumble upon the issues in the forum. Such issues are better tracked on GitHub in the appropriate issue tracker. Probably, this is the issue tracker of the server but could be another one as well.

Ok, then this is a feature request. As I wrote this forum is typically not visited by many devs in regular intervals. Scanning for possible feature requests is not their job. Can we agree that it makes sense to put the valuable development time into the most important part (writing code)? Then, we need to hand the bugs and feature requests in an easily manageable form that allows them to handle it as efficient as possible (for them): formal GitHub issues.
Can you share links? Cross-referencing the things might bring more insight.
