Support intro

Sorry to hear you’re facing problems. :slightly_frowning_face:

The community help forum (help.nextcloud.com) is for home and non-enterprise users. Support is provided by other community members on a best effort / “as available” basis. All of those responding are volunteering their time to help you.

If you’re using Nextcloud in a business/critical setting, paid and SLA-based support services can be accessed via portal.nextcloud.com where Nextcloud engineers can help ensure your business keeps running smoothly.

Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can.

The Basics

  • Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
    • from this docker image linuxserver/nextcloud
  • Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
    • No

Summary of the issue you are facing:

I have found this logged in the log:

The app config key dav/hide_absence_settings is not defined in the config lexicon

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Upgrade the docker container to Nextcloud 33.0.0
  2. Start the container
  3. Check the log: Account Icon > Administration Settings > Logging

Log entries

Nextcloud

Please provide the log entries from your Nextcloud log that are generated during the time of problem (via the Copy raw option from Administration settings->Logging screen or from your nextcloud.log located in your data directory). Feel free to use a pastebin/gist service if necessary.

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

Noticed this and 100’s of similar entries whilst trying to debug a Talk connectivity issue. Hopefully someone who knows what’s going on will find it eventually!

Set your loglevel back to the default (2) and you won’t see these.

Hello @jtr , I’ve seen that you also suggest this on GitHub in similar issues.
Of course, your suggestion prevents the log file from flooding, but there are scenarios where you need a low log level, because you develop apps and want to debug them, for example, and it’s really annoying when you look for your own error messages in the log file and have to work your way through the many lines first, because the log file is flooded every time you open a page.
Wouldn’t it be better to explain the above-mentioned message so that it can be turned off?

The app config key dav/hide_absence_settings is not defined in the config lexicon

What is meant by config lexicon? Is this the config.php of NextCloud? If so, I tried everything possible without success to turn off the message - no matter if I set a parameter there hide_absence_settings or dav/hide_absence_settings - the message keeps coming back.
I have now upgraded my own debug messages to log level 3 and let Nextcloud log in level 2. But it would still be great if one knew what DAV wants to tell you and how to turn it off.

There are various approaches to this. One of the cooler ones is using the long supported (but not well documented) log.condition config directive. There’s a new section now covering it (as of a few hours ago), in the latest edition of the Admin Manual: Logging chapter.

What is meant by config lexicon ? Is this the config.php of NextCloud? If so, I tried everything possible without success to turn off the message - no matter if I set a parameter there hide_absence_settings or dav/hide_absence_settings - the message keeps coming back.

The config lexicon matters will get sorted out as code owners and app maintainers fully add and/or decide how to handle unexpected config parameters. See Dev Manual: Config Lexicon.
