J’ai remarqué que depuis peu le menu “+” de Nextcloud en Français utilise désormais le verbe Télécharger au lieu du Téléverser qui était employé auparavant.
Je trouve dommage de ne plus faire la différence entre le download et l’upload ! Qu’en pensez-vous ?
In the glossary, “upload” should be translated with “téléverser”. I cannot find the string within transifex, so perhaps @rakekniven can help out to fix this …

My version is 30.0.1, not 30.0.2 (docker for 30.0.2 not yet available)
So I guess something has been fixed from .1 to .2.
In 30.0.1, the “upload files” was translated by “Téléchargement des fichiers” which means “Download files” (instead of upload):
But now I see in @Cisco30 screenshot that it is now correctly translated into Téléversement (Upload).
But the new “Upload folders” seems not be translated yet into french.

So to sumerize: “Upload files” is not well translated in french.
Since v30, it is “Téléchargement des fichiers” while it should be - as it was before - “Téléversement de fichiers”.
I am on it. Looks like a wrong translation catalogue for a library is getting referenced

The “problem” is that server still ships version 1.5.0 of that library in stable30 releases, so no new translations since 20th August.
Feel free to create an issue in the server repo

Hey, I’ve been seeing this issue as well.
Google uses “importer des fichiers” which seems to be much more understood by people, especially non tech.
I asked French coworkers internally to start chatting about this. I also think “Téléverser” is not a proper translation from a french perspective
téléverser is not very common, and it seems more referred in Canadian French
(they say it was proposed by Canadians)
Some dictionaries contain this word (Définitions : téléverser - Dictionnaire de français Larousse) other don’t (https://www.lerobert.com/le-petit-robert-de-la-langue-francaise-bienvenue.html).
and these online dictionaries put it explicitly as Canadian French:
(and Canadian French for some terms can be quite different, so in France parking or week-end and perfectly fine to use, Canadians use different words)
You have terms like mettre en ligne (put something online), and other terms to describe it a bit. Or you use the English term, it sounds a bit weird and not very French.
Yes, something like this might be a good idea. And it isn’t that long. For the web interface this would be a good idea, however, on the desktop client it might be a bit strange. The desktop client then imports the file on the server?
Shouldn’t this conversation be held in french ? 
I disagree with “importer” : the import action usually refers to “upload and convert”, which is not the case here.
Actually upload does not have so far an official french translation, except the french canadian one (téléverser). Disclaimer, I am french-french-from-France, not canadian 
I’d prefer to continuer with “téléverser”, also since it is already in place since some time now. Changing it another time would add more confusion.
Despite the differences of the language, some problems can be common in other languages as well. But in theory, you could do a French to let the French-speaking people figure out the issue first.
Isn’t the conversion part optional? If the file/data already has the right format?
But even if it matches for the upload button, in a different context this is likely to fail.
ok cool. The only strange thing is, that this term is rarely used (seems to me as a non-native speaker). However, in general the term upload is much less used than the download as well.
That’s right, this term is not found often, since the concept itself is quite new.
Envoyer could also do the job (“send”), but too vague in my opinion (send mail, send files with a share, …)
I think neologism are welcome when there is no existing word, instead of using other terms that may lead to confusion.
Also since the téléverser is present since a few month now : did you get some complains about it ? I believe we would have heard about it, probably even here in this thread since the first post was written in french.
