I use Nextcloud 11.0.5 on a shared hosting and I have some web projects with .htaccess files which I want to sync. I have read in some threads that the .htaccess file is not synced by default and blocked by serverside because it can be a security risk. I have my data folder outside the web root (complete out side the www/ directory). Can it be a problem when I now remove blocking .htaccess on serverside?
You can rename them a little to pass them. The blocked .htaccess upload is hard-coded, so you have to go manually through the code to remove it. There is probably no option because you can easily mess things up. But in theory, if the directory is not accessible through apache (better would be even a webserver that ignores .htaccess files), it shouldn’t be a problem.
