Suggestion to reorganize/rebrand the "groupware" features of NextCloud

I have no support/technical question and have seen the support category. (Be aware that direct support questions will be deleted.)

Which general topic do you have

Hello, NextCloud is great and it already has all it is needed for a groupware application. Just I think it is badly organized/names (in my humble opinion).

I think the “core” of a groupware application is triad composed of (a) agents, (b) resources and (c) communication channels.

  • “agents” are the user, they have permissions related to resources and to communications
  • “resources” can be the NC shared data, the calendars, the deck boards…
  • “communication channels” are in NC the persistent rooms for chats and audio/video calls in Talk or the emails

The possibility to integrate them in NC is super and unique, but my experience is that people doesn’t realize this is possible because the apps are dispersed and with bad names.
For example, the agents (teams) are in “contacts”. The mini-web pages (a resource) is instead named “collectives”.
I think there should be a sort of app unifying this, called perhaps “Projects”, where the user could easily add agents, resources and communications to the project.
This is absolutely possible now, just that it is too hidden into the individual apps.

@lobianco welcome back and thanks tor your request :waving_hand:

please consider creating a PR on the developers GitHub nextcloud/groupware: Meta repo for the groupware team as the devs don’t generally hang out on the community forum…

feel free to link your request here for posterity and mark the issue as “solved” when done

thanks
