Hello, first of all I’d like to say that adding a whiteboard is a very good idea.
But in my opinion, these features are still very simplistic, and therefore very limited.
I’d like to be able to add smart links that preview content, like a YouTube video or a Wikipedia article for example.
I’d also like to add mind maps and other types of files, such as audio, video, PDF, 3D models, etc. All these files could have a direct link to storage on the Nextcloud files server.
But they need to be able to be seen quickly at a glance, then clicked on to see more information or zoomed in.
And much more.
You can also take inspiration from the best, such as Miro.com, then zengobi.com.
Hello, if you go to their sites, you’ll already have some examples.
You can also use both for free, to see for yourself the features, and then test them.
Which would be more pleasant for you, instead of me giving you a few screenshots.
Also, since the new Whiteboard app is based on Excalidraw, it might also make sense to place them directly upstream: Issues · excalidraw/excalidraw · GitHub
I can only speak from experience, but without adding that explicit info to either here or dedicated github issues (ideally both) you won’t end up with an actual, fruitful discussion.
I will look it up, but that doesn’t mean I will see things as you do. For that, the images will help JumpStart collaboration towards technically feasible solutions through examples rather than more general descriptions.
A powerful, multi-functional tool that can be self-hosted, or run locally on your PC.
I don’t think I need to explain why Excalidraw is so basic compared to the competition.
It only takes 5 minutes to understand the gulf of functionality that separates it.
Or else it’s pure bad faith.
