Switching the primary storage to a S3 bucket is this just changing the config or do you need to make more post changes? right now I het erros that files cannot be found.

I’d assume - because I haven’t explicitly done it - you’d need to follow the standard procedure:
I’m guessing you’ve mounted S3 locally, though if not this is likely wrong advice 
It was not locally mounted but I used this manual: https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/12/admin_manual/configuration_files/primary_storage.html#amazon-s3
But it is unclear how the next steps should be to make this work.
