[Solved] Failed to connect with clients

Nextcloud version : 17.0.1
Operating system and version : Linux on shared hosting
Apache version : 2.4.41
PHP version : 7.1.33

Since a few days all my nextcloud clients (android, desktop,…) can no longer connect to my nextcloud instance with an error message (wrong username or password) while from my browsers I can normally connect to my instance with the same username and password rejected by the clients.
The android client also displays the following message “access failed: operation finished with HTTP status code 401 (fail)”.
Where should I investigate?

Just a wild guess: did you activate two-factor authentication? You need an app password in this case.

No, two-factor authentication is not activated.

The problem is solved. It was caused by a PHP version update by my hosting provider.
