SMB won't connect in nextcloud; but smbclient working in command line

Hi,

Having a weird one whereby I get the red square when I try and connect to SMB via next cloud client using a directory. If I remove the directory option (and make it root), I get a green circle, but I have the problem where the external storage just redirects (https://github.com/nextcloud/server/issues/8364)

Using smbclient from the command line on the same machine works even more weirdly, so I don’t think it’s a firewall issue…

Not a fixed, but it started working after I did the following (for anyone coming here from google etc.):

Install cifs-utils, and add the mount to fstab; then reboot the server. (Instructions here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently#Mount_password_protected_network_folders)
Go into nextcloud and add the share as normal - worked for me (without having to add the external storage as a “local folder”)
