Iām using Nextcloud Desktop Client Version 33.0.5 (macOS running on cocoa). I recently updated.
The Right click ā Share with Nextcloud feature, which I used to generate internal and external Nextcloud links to files without navigating to the web client, no longer appears when I right click on a synced Nextcloud file in Finder. It also does not seem to be an extension I can add through Finder or Share settings.
Any tips? I live and breathe with this feature, lol.
Hi, @al-smithers! It is a fundamental difference to know whether you are using the classic synchronization folders or file provider feature of our app. Both are macOS extensions which (still) operate differently in regard to shares.
Hi @iva.horn! How do I find out which version Iām using? I believe itās the classic sync folders, but Iām not 100% sure.
Check your account settings in the app settings. Are āvirtual filesā enabled on your account? Where does your Nextcloud data show up in Finder? An entry under āFavoritesā in the Finder sidebar or under āLocationsā?
@iva.horn, thanks! Looks like Iām using classic sync. Virtual files are disabled & Iām using favorites files to access them via Finder.
Okay, you might be a victim of this known issue:
It might help to force restart Finder (ā + ā„ + ā to summon the macOS window for forcing termination on apps).
What does running pluginkit -m in Terminal print? There should be a com.nextcloud.desktopclient.FinderSyncExt line.
This is a problem with macOS and how it decides to load extensions. We cannot do much about it because it is not under our control. We still need to understand this unreliable behavior better.
